About Us

Decatur Area Poets exists to create, share, and comment on original works by local poets. We will strive to support one another in positive ways so that we may inspire our community and be advocates for poetry and creative writing.

We meet on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 pm We usually meet inside the Staley Meeting Room in the Decatur Public Library, located at 130 N. Franklin St., Decatur, IL 62523, but may occasionally meet elsewhere. Be sure to check our Events page for details of all of our meetings and other events.

Visitors are welcome, however, please reach out to us before coming your first time so that we can tell you more about the group and what we do.
